Boston anyone?

Is there anyone out there in blog land that lives in Massachusetts? I will be going to Boston in May with DH for an AIA conference - the same reason we went to San Antonio last year! We will be at the Hyatt in Cambridge. We won't have a car but I could take the subway. If anyone knows of any quilt stores that are convenient to the mass transit, let me know!

I am also interested in any other must see sights in Boston. I am already planning on seeing as many of the historical sights as I can. Thanks for the help!

Love that city! My favorite spot would have to be the Isabelle Stewart Granger Museum. It is an old villa filled with all her treasures - it is litterally right next door to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. You can take the T there (subway). Both Museums are awesome!
Have fun!

Boston is a GREAT place to visit. The history there is just awe-inspiring. There is sooo much to do, whatever you pick will be wonderful. I haven't been there since the early 90's so I won't pretend to be an expert on places to recommend... except if you can, do the trail that is marked on the streets in red. I can't think of the name of it. Very historical. All the stuff you learned in school comes alive.

I second the Stewart Granger Museum! I haven't been there in years but they used to have a great tea room too. I grew up right outside Boston and worked there most summers during school. You can take a train from South Station and go up to Lowell to the New England Quilt Museum. I love the North End of Boston for the food (Italian.) Also there are free tours of the State House right off of Boston Common that are very interesting. After that you can catch the swan boats at the Public Gardens...I do miss Boston!

As Yankeequilter mentioned you don't want to miss the Quilt museum in Lowell but while you are there don't forget to stop at the Textile museum. They have tours and you will really enjoy it!

Hi, I noticed your comment on my blog. Are you from Rockford then? I didn't grow up in Rockford. We moved here when my husband took a job with H.S. 7 years ago. I do like it though. I like to make quilts also, but I haven't attempted one in a LONG time. Now I miss it when i see your blog! Thanks for visiting.

Go to the North End of Boston and check out all the Italian bakeries! You'll probably be there anyway because thatis where the Old North Church is. Also, go on the "Duck" tour. It's a vehicle from WWII that travels around Boston to show the sites but you can learn a tremendous amount of history of the city from the tour. Well worth the $$.
